The good things were always around.
Microgratitude is the practice of noticing them.
Most of us wait for something worth being grateful for. A promotion. A big win. A moment we can point to and say, "There. That's the one."
But what about the coffee that's still warm? The light coming through the window right now? The fact that you're breathing without thinking about it?
Those moments are always happening. Hundreds of them, every single day.
Microgratitude is simply the practice of learning to see them — and letting them pull you, gently, toward a life that already has more good in it than you've been giving it credit for.
No journal required. No special conditions.
Just your attention and your voice.
microgratitude
Three steps. Sixty seconds. Immediate impact.
Notice something small. Form a sentence. Say it out loud with feeling. Pause for three seconds. That's it.
You can do that right now. You don't need this book to start.
However, if you want to understand why it works including the neuroscience of how a spoken, specific, emotionally anchored observation actually changes your brain, and how I discovered all of this, then the book is for you.
It's short on purpose. Guiding you along the way. Written so you can begin practicing before you finish reading it. Ensuring you have the knowledge to feel comfortable in the practice.
"My life is already full of good things. I just wasn't looking at them."
Spread Gratitude
The practice is better when it spreads.
Help good things multiply.
There are a few ways to help it spread:
Say it out loud. Practice openly — around family, friends, or even the stranger next to you in line. Let people hear it. Gratitude is contagious in the best possible way. Someone notices. Someone asks.
That's one way microgratitude grows.
Pick up the book or the goods. Every purchase from microgratitude.org does double duty. We set aside 20% of profits to place books — for free — in the places where people need them most. Waiting rooms. Recovery centers. Senior centers. Quiet corners where someone might be having a hard day and needs something to reach for.
Join the Gratitude Corps and you can do the same. Choose spaces in your community. We'll help you place books there at a significant discount. Learn more about our mission to join.
